The popular American rapper Snoop Dogg revealed that he acquired land in the blockchain-based virtual metaverse The Sandbox
On December 2, The Sandbox held a “Snoopverse Land Sale,” which allowed participants to purchase virtual plots of land that are located next to the famous hip hop star Snoop Dogg’s virtual property.
Recently Snoop revealed he was a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) whale called “Cozomo de’ Medici.
At the end of September, Snoop partnered with The Sandbox, a virtual Metaverse gaming ecosystem where players can create, share and monetize NFTs and gaming experiences on the Ethereum (ETH) network.
The Sandbox published a blog post on medium where they explains the details of the land sale.
- The plots of land in the “Snoopverse” would go on sale on December 2 at 1 p.m. (UTC).
- 122 LANDs will be for sale around the Snoopverse ESTATE.
- 67 Premium LANDs will be sold with a bundle of three exclusive NFTs.
- The Snoopverse Early Access Pass: gives you access to all of the Snoopverse experiences before anyone else can.
- The Snoop statue: Snoop likes to call himself the biggest dog in the neighborhood.
- Brown Sugar car: goes from zero to style in less than 5 seconds.
- 3x small ESTATEs will be sold in auction on OpenSea.
The Sandbox announcement further detailed on Thursday. So far, the plot of land called “Wave 1 – 3×3 Estate S [12,-75]” sold for 71,000 SAND or roughly $450K at the time of settlement. 71,000 SAND is worth more than $400K at the time of writing.
The owner of the land next to Snoop’s virtual state is called “P-Ape,” and the collector has a number of popular NFTs.
The NFT collector has a large number of Crypto Bull Society NFTs and a Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT as well. P-Ape owns BAYC #6,445 (worth 140 ETH or $588,036) and Mutant Ape Yacht Club #11,089 (worth 80.0 ETH or $336091) which is now and and a myriad of individual Lazy Bunny NFTs.
The Sandbox held the largest seven-day sales last week and sold 4,433 virtual land plots worth $70 million. Top plots in the Sandbox metaverse sold for for 14-15 ether, or 8,000 SAND to close to 10,000 SAND per plot last week.
