The Carolina Hurricanes (also known as Canes), a professional ice hockey team that is based in Raleigh, North Carolina, will accept crypto payments on their e-commerce platform CarolinaProShop.com,in partnership with the payment provider BitPay.
The move will give online shoppers the option to use their crypto to buy the merchandise. Crypto-savvy Caniacs will be able to buy various merchandise items like jerseys, pucks, decals, items featuring the team’s mascot Stormy and more with crypto.
“We are always looking for ways to improve the shopping experience on CarolinaProShop.com for our fans,” said Waddell. “By partnering with BitPay, we are able to establish a presence in the rapidly growing cryptocurrency market and provide our fans with increased payment flexibility.”
BitPay added support for the hottest meme coin in early December, giving it a major adoption push. BitPay accepts 13 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Dogecoin (DOGE), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), Ripple XRP , Shiba Inu (SHIB) and USD stable coins (GUSD, USDC, USDP, DAI and BUSD).

The Carolina Hurricanes are currently the second best-performing team of the 2021–22 National Hockey League (NHL) season. With an Elo rating of 1576, it is behind only the Tampa Bay Lightning.
